DCIM Groups

There are two distinct groups in Data Center operations: Facilities & IT.

Our role-based GFS Crane DCIM allows the flexibility to be licensed by these two DCIM Groups:

  1. GFS Crane DCIM for Physical Infrastructure Management
  2. GFS Crane DCIM for IT Infrastructure Management

The ability to license by DCIM Groups as well as DCIM Modules ensures faster return on investment (ROI) and allows possibility of incremental growth after deriving benefits from the DCIM parts already implemented. With open interfaces, the DCIM Groups or DCIM Modules can also be interfaced with customer’s existing monitoring (like BMS) or ITSM systems.

GFS Crane DCIM for Physical Infrastructure Management

GFS Crane DCIM for Physical Infrastructure Management addresses the needs of Facilities teams in both Enterprise and Colocation Data Centers. This goes beyond monitoring of critical infrastructure devices and sending alerts.

  • Manages multiple Data Centers from a centralized system
  • Captures necessary operating parameters directly from power systems, HVAC and other devices or sensors through protocol support of SNMP, Modbus or via BMS through BACNet.
  • Alerts of any threshold breach delivered via text message, email or SNMP Trap to a Ticketing system.
  • PUE Reports, Thermal maps, Sensor analytics, Operational Intelligence and trend graphs of data captured from devices
  • Real-time alerts and device status display on a Power Chain that provides an Asset Relationship map from service level entry to Rack
  • Asset Management features and an OEM library
  • 2D and 3D Data Center Layout and Visualization
  • Workflow-based Provisioning system
  • What-if analysis-based Capacity Planning of Power, Space & Cooling
  • Branch circuit monitoring and power billing for Colo Data Centers

GFS Crane DCIM for IT Infrastructure Management

GFS Crane DCIM for IT Infrastructure Management addresses needs of IT Infrastructure teams in Enterprise Data Centers and those who may have collocated.

  • Single instance of DCIM allows management of multiple Data Centers
  • Auto-discovery and building of asset database with assistance of built-in OEM library
  • Power and temperature of IT devices captured via SNMP or through external power meters and temperature probes.
  • Power consumption at Rack level obtained through iPDUs or Packet Power’s Smart Power cables
  • Integration of Intel Data Center Manager allows capture of actual power consumption and inlet & outlet temperature of Intel-based servers through IPMI protocol
  • Alerts of any threshold breach delivered via text message, email or SNMP Trap to a Ticketing system.
  • Rack temperature profile, Rack allocations, and trend graphs of data captured from devices
  • Move-Add-Change operations via built-in Workflow-based approval system
  • Recommendations for improving energy efficiency through Virtualization, Replacement and Retirement of legacy devices
  • 2D and 3D Data Center Layout and Visualization
  • Mapping of racks to servers (including VMs), applications and end-users
  • Asset Inventory, history, usage and search functions via multiple filters
  • Carbon footprint Reports based on power consumption of IT devices
